Wrexham A.F.C. Founded in 1873, is the oldest club in Wales and is now one of three in the English Football League with Cardiff and Swansea. The team plays at The Racecourse Ground in Mold Road. This ground has recently undergone some major changes and acquired a new stand for the 1999 Rugby World Cup. The "Robins" now renamed "The Dragons" have never quite hit the heights in league football but are renowned cup fighters and many a Premiership club have left North Wales with nothing but embaressment to show for their visit. The Welsh Cup and European Cup Winners Cup have also seen notable Wrexham victories. The photographs below show first the main stand area and is followed by an exterior and interior view of the newly built stand. A nice touch in the outside wall is the facilty for supporters to purchase a brick carved with their own name or message. In the corner of the new stand is a public house The Turf, one of only a handful of pubs to have been part of a football ground.
