The stadium was almost completed in time for the opening ceremony, only some external decoration work and removal of scaffolding and heavy equipment needed to be done. Below are some views of the construction in progress.
The large crane has been positioned outside of the ground as preparations are made to lift one of the roof positioning girder sections into place.

The crane cables lowering towards the lifting girder and then fixed, the strain is taken up before the lift commences.

LIFT OFF. The huge roof bracket lifts slowly from retainers at the base of the tressle.

Nearing the end of the journey, the giant crane brings the load round to its' final position where Laing contractors await to install it.
